Description
Tall Oregon Grape (Mahonia aquifolium): is a woody evergreen shrub with yellow blooms from March to May. It’s easy to grow and tolerates a wide range of light conditions but prefers partial shade. Tall Oregon grape needs acidic, low-nutrient, well-drained soil with occasional summer water. Butterflies, bees and hummingbirds are attracted to the flowers. The blue fruit is eaten by wildlife and enjoyed by people for jelly, wine, and dyes. $20 for a bundle of 5 bare root seedlings, 12+ inches. More information at the Burke Herbarium.
