Description
Deer Fern (Struthiopteris spicant syn. Blechnum spicant): is a graceful, partially evergreen fern growing 1- 3 ft in height and width. Outer, sterile fronds are evergreen, fertile fronds are deciduous and grow up from the middle of the plant. Full or part shade, or dappled light, wet to moist soil. Excellent in shade or woodland gardens. Occurs naturally in low- to mid-elevations from AK to northern CA. $20 for a bundle of 5 plugs. More information at the Burke Herbarium.
