Description
Shore Pine (Pinus contorta var. contorta): is a fast-growing lowland pine, up to 45 ft in height, but often of lower and bushy stature. Common here in the San Juan Islands. Valuable for seaside plantings, useful as an evergreen screening in rows or drifts. Prefers full sun. Tolerates almost any dry to wet soil, but prefers moist or boggy conditions. Occurs naturally in dunes, bogs and rocky hillsides at low elevations near the coast, from AK to Northern CA. $20 for a bundle of 5 bare root plants. 12+ inches.
